As we’ve already written in our first post about New Year in Barcelona, the traditions for celebrating New Year’s Eve in Barcelona are similar to Spanish traditions in other regions, as people use to gather with their families and/or friends, either at home or in a restaurant to have dinner together, waiting until midnight, when they make the traditional toast for welcoming New Year with “cava” (sparkling wine from Catalonia) and eat 12 grapes for having  good luck in the coming year. One of the differences with other cities is that loud fireworks and firecrackers are not popular in Barcelona.
