Four obsessions marked Gaudi´s work and his life, but the most important one was his admiration for Catalonia. Gaudi not only carefully studied everything in his creations, he also integrated into his architecture a series of materials such as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. La Sagrada Familia
It was not Gaudi who initiated his most important work. He was 31 years old when he began to direct the Sagrada Familia’s construction. Gaudi radically changed the original project and substituted it by one of his own, which was more ambitious and defiant. Nowadays, there are eight completed towers. They correspond to the Nacimiento and Pasion fronts. Unfortunately, Gaudi died and before he could finish this incredible work. It is said that it could be ended in 30 years, more specifically, when the second centenary of Gaudi‘s birth will take place.
