The next October 12th is a national holiday in Spain, for the commemoration of the Columbus Day, our the Discovery of America, but also because of the festivity of the Virgen del Pilar. This year, October 12th is friday, so it’s a long weekend in Spain and you can use it for a getaway to Granada.

During the long weekend in Granada you wll have rge chance of visiting the most important historic monuments of the city, such as the emblematic Alhambra, and the palaces and gardens of Generalife. Other things to do in Granada are to stroll at the charming alleys of the Albaicin neighbourhood and pampering yourself in the Arab Baths.

But if you really want to have a unique experience, you can go to the Medieval Market of Granada. This original commercial festival takes place every year in the middle of October, at the same time with the October Long Weekend in Granada.

During this festival, there are many stands selling typical food and artisanal products, located in the sourroundings of the Bib-Rambla square (also known as Plaza de las Flores). Beside these stands, you will enjoy of the avts of the minstrels, jugglers and musicians dressed with medieval costumes.

Beside, to commorate the Columbus day, on October 12th there is going to be a concert of the Orchestraos the Cirty of Granada at the Auditorium Manuel de Falla ( located at Paseo de los Mártires s/n) at 20:30 hrs . The auditorium is very close to the city centre (10 minutes walking) oir you can go by bus, taking the lines 11 or 13.
