Visit CaixaForum Barcelona:

The social and cultural center of La Caixa, CaixaForum Barcelona is located on Avenida Marques de Comillas 6-8, in the Plaza de España / Montjuïc area. Here you will find several interesting exhibitions, lectures, concerts, films, and other cultural activities. CaixaForum is located in a beautiful modernist building that previously served as the site of a factory, designed by the famous Catalan architect Puig i Cadafalch. Admission is free for exhibitions and media library, all other activities such as movies and concerts require buying tickets.

Currently, CaixaForum Barcelona hosts these temporal exhibitions:

  • Human, All Too Human: Spanish art of the late 50′s and 60′s. Until February 20th 2011
  • Routes of Arabia: Saudi archaeological treasures. Until February 20th 2011.
  • Building the Revolution: Russian art and architecture, years 1915-1935. Until April 17, 2011.

Guided tours for skating in Barcelona on Friday night:

Organized by the Barcelona Skaters Association, the meeting point for those who want to participate on these routes to skate in Barcelona is El Centre de la Vila mall, located at the Villa Olimpica area, street Espriu Salvador, 61; on fridays at 22:30 pm.  If you do not know what to do in Barcelona, but has a decent level at skating (turn and brake skills are mandatory), we recommend you enjoy this free activity in Barcelona, which has an estimated duration of 2 hours.

Soft sports in Barcelona’s parks:

This is another free activity in Barcelona, organized by the Municipality of Barcelona, including Asiatic sports such as tai-chi and chi-kung (smooth and coordinated movements), and walking circuit and memory exercises, focusing in people over 40 years-old. Each district has a park in which to perform these activities, here you will find information about some of the most important ones:

  • Park Ciutadella. Paseo Picasso, 1, between the greenhouse and the Museum of Geology. Tuesday, 12 to 13 h-Tai-chi and Chi-Kung, Wednesday from 12 to 13 h-Hiking and memory exercises.
  • Park Joan Miró. Calle Tarragona, 74. Nearby the park’s bar.  Monday from 10 to 11 h-Tai-chi and Chi-Kung, Wednesday from 10 to 11 h-walks and memory.
