Virgin of Montserrat: One of the symbols of catholic faith in Catalonia and Spain is the Virgin of Montserrat. The Virgin of Montserrat history begins in year 880, when an image of the Virgin Mary was discovered in a cave in Montserrat mountain (This cave is known as Santa Cova -Holy Cave). The bishop tried to move this Holy Mary image to the neighbor city of Manresa, but it was so heavy that couldn’t be moved, so this was interpreted as a sign thta the Virgin wanted to stay in Montserrat. The Virgin of Montserrat is also known as “La Morenita” (the brunette), as the statue that represents her has a dark tone in the skin.

Montserrat Monastery: Has two different complex: one for the church, museum and monastery and the other with facilities for tourists, such as cafeterias, restaurants and stores.
