Did you know that the entrances to 15 museums of Barcelona on Sundays are free? True story… Since 2009, the city council of Barcelona proposes Barcelona Museums to join the initiative which provides free entrances for everyone on Sunday afternoons. The aim of this initiative is to show people who live in Barcelona that going to museums is not an activity only dedicated to tourists. Before, municipal museums already offered this benefit but only on the first Sunday mornings of each month. In that sense the Plan B (this is how the city council named it) grows the number of museums who offer free access on Sundays.

Even if the project goal is to make the residents beneficiate from it, everyone who is visiting Barcelona can seize the opportunity and visit museums for free: it is an amazing way to end your Sunday, a day usually dedicated to leisure activities.

Not all the museums in Barcelona have joined Plan B, but there’re some very interesting ones that has done it, such as the Picasso Museum, the CCCB (Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona) and others that we will present you

  • Museum of History of Barcelona(MUHBA): The 5 branches of this museum are included in the Plan B project, so you can visit Plaza del Rey and Pedralbes´ Monastery, among others without paying a single euro. It is a great reason for renting an apartment in Barcelona, isn´t it?
  • Museum of Natural Sciences in Barcelona (NAT): You can visit either the Blau Museum (located at Parc del Forum)  or the Botanical Garden in Barcelona.
  • Museum of Decorative Arts in Barcelona, Textile Museum and Disseny Hub Barcelona (the three branches of the DHUB) also take part in the project. The two first ones offer free entrance between 3pm and 6pm. The gallery situated in the Palau Marqués de Llio allows free access each Sunday between 3pm and 8pm.
  • The Museum of Precolumbian Art Barbier Muller is free each Sunday between 3pm and 8 pm.
  • Museum of Music: Free entrance between 3pm and 8pm.
  • The Museum of Ceramics Art  is located in Palau Reial de Pedralbes. You don´t have to pay your entrance on Sunday afternoon between 3pm and 6pm.
