Changes go quick in the Poble Nou neighbourhood. Since the last decade, the appearance is already different than it was before and the project 22@ isn’t over yet. Poble Nou is Catalan for ‘New Village’ and we think this is a very suitable name.

It looked like a difficult project to change an area with declining industries (Poble Nou used to be the most important industrial area in Catalonia and Iberia) in to a city’s technological and innovation district with residential and leisure spaces around. Big enterprises, luxurious hotels, universities and everything else which is necessary to make this a liveable and economical epicentre of the city of Barcelona. And since the start of this project, a lot has changed in this, nowadays, more and more modern neighbourhood which breezes its own tipical atmosphere.

This constantly changing makes each visit to the area different. New buildings, renovated old buildings and former factory converted into lofts. This contrast between new and old is surprising. Another way of urban planning application and a new period in architecture is born.

The attraction for artists and creative people is big. There are several art &design schools and the creative outlook is getting bigger. New shops and galleries open their doors, the green Rambla de Poblenou and the fancy places to drink and eat make this area a very interesting one.

These contrasts between old and new and the fact the old ‘locals’ live next to the ‘new generation’ of people living their live in this neighbourhood, make this district a place to live and worth visiting.

Visit Poble Nou, bring your camera or even stay in one of the apartments in Poble Nou. That way you can discover the neighbourhood from the inside. In the South of the area you can find the Poble Nou beach and the public transport services in Poble Nou are great to get to the old town of Barcelona in approximately 10 minutes.
