Poble Sec is one of the neighborhoods in Municipality of Sants-Montjuïc of Barcelona. This is a particular neighborhood, which is located between the foothills of the mountain of Montjuic and El Raval in Barcelona. Poble Sec (Dry Town) received this name because it did not have any fountains until 1869.

Poble Sec in Barcelona was the first expansion of the city, before the development of the Eixample district. In the second half of the nineteenth century, it became a working class neighborhood; however Poble Sec has an unique location because it is located between the Port of Barcelona, ??Barcelona’s Old Town and the mountain of Montjuïc.

Paral-lel Avenue is the most important street in the neighborhood of Poble Sec, in which is concentrated an important offer of entertainment in the city. Paral-lel Avenue is a lively street; in the 40’s decade it was the centre of the theatrical scene, nightlife and cabaret in Barcelona and then fell into decline. However, Parallel Avenue is being renovated by the City Council that wants to bring back the essence of the Catalan “Broadway” to this street.
