How to reach Madrid from the Barajas´ Airport of Madrid?

Taxi:

Taxis are safe and reliable so that it is the easier way to go to Madrid. The cost of the journey from the airport to the center is about 25€. To catch a taxi is the ideal option if you are very tired or if you have many luggages. The taxi will directly drop you off near theaccommodation in Madrid that you would have chosen.

Tube:

There are two tube station in the airport (both of them in the line 8). The Metro Aeropuerto station T1-T2-T3 and the Metro Aeropuerto T4. The metro is the more economic option and it´s also a fast option (it takes 40 minutes to reach the city – Sol station). Although, the metro is not recommended for those who travel with a lot of luggage and we advice you to pay attention to your personal belongings in order to avoid bad surprises.

Bus:

You can go to Madrid in bus from the Barajas Airport. You need to catch either the bus of the line 200 Avenida América – Aeropuerto or the express line Atocha-Aeropuerto.

Train station in Madrid:

  • In Spain, the train service is operated by the Renfe company. You can purchase your tickets online at www.renfe.es
  • There are long distance train and local train rail station.
  • Long distance trains feature cafeterias.
  • Night trains feature beds.
  • The “clase preferente” means first class and the tickets are more expansive.
  • The high-speed trains are named AVE and there are the most comfortable and fast but also the most expansive. With a AVE you can reach the cities of Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba, Malaga and Toledo.

Touristic buses in Madrid:

If you only have a few days to visit the city or if you prefer to have a panoramic view of the city, we advice you to take a trip in one of the touristic buses of Madrid City Tour. The buses propose 2 routes and they leave from the Prado Museum. Some of the most important touristic bus stops are:

  • Debod Temple

  • Royal Palace
  • Puerta del Sol

Madrid is a big city so you recommend you to take all your precautions to avoid unpleasant moments and situations.

Our first, and more important, recommendation is to look closely to your personal belongings in order to avoid becoming a victim of pickpocket.

If you are confronted to a medical emergency, you have right to be treated in emergency in the public hospitals. European citizens will need to present their social security accreditation and thanks to it the care will be free. Non-European citizen will have to pay the care costs if there are not considered as an emergency.

Location:   Comisaría del Centro. Calle Leganitos 19, near the Plaza de España. (Plaza de España, Callao or Santo Domingo tube station). The police station is opened between 9 a.m. and midnight.
