If you’re looking for a good food in Barcelona, probably you may feel a bit confused, because there are so many restaurants in barcelona that is hard to find a one with a great quality/price relation.

With a little bit of skepticism, a couple a day ago I went to the restaurant Sukur in Barcelona, located at Gothic Quarter, in the heart of the tourist Barcelona. And the skepticism was because even when the name Sukur means “Thanks” in Pakistani so I expected it offers food from Pakistan, I had read part of the menu on Internet and I found a weird mixture of Mediterranean food, rices, Greek Food, Moroccan food and more… Honestly I wasn’t very convinced, but I went there to celebrate the bithday of one of my friends and that was the place they have chosen…

Fish and Seafood grilled at Restaurant Sukur in Barcelona

Well, I have to tell that the restaurant Sukur has been quite a surprise!!! Not only a cozy place, but also offers great food. I have ordered -was very hungry and also, I confess that I ate more than I needed, as everything looked delicious- a barbecue of fish and seafood including half lobster and black rice prepared with squid ink (shared everything with a friend). The other members of the group also ordered seafood and rices and we were all very pleased! Although we really want to come again to try the Greek and Moroccan food that we didn’t try, as the dishes ordered by the people in other tables looked awesome.

The prices of the different dishes were more than ok, and the atmosphere was really nice -it was a little but hot, but consider that I went there in the middle of August, during summer, when there was a wave of heat from the Sahara, so it was understandable). The waiters weren’t not the nicest in Barcelona, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, as they were very helpful when we needed to change the table because we have 2 more poeple that we originally expected.

Directions: the restaurant Sukur is located at Avinyo Street, number 42, at Gothic Quarter. Metro station: Jaume I (line 4, yellow).
