When planning a weekend getaway or a longer vacation to Granada, don’t forget to include in your agenda the possibility of skiing in what is considered today the best ski resort in Spain: Sierra Nevada.

Although one might think that Granada is too far south and therefore snow sports are not options, there is a geographical interesting fact you must consider: Mulhacén Mountain, the highest peak in Spain (3482 meters high) is just a few kilometers away. So you may actually ski in Granada! Moreover, you will find quality snow almost all year round and at the same time, you may enjoy a sunny day, because this area has the highest number of sunny days per year.

The ski resort in Granada is located within the Sierra Nevada National Park, 32 kilometers from the city (about 25 minutes by car). If you do not have your own vehicle, there is a good bus service, BONAL. This public transportation offers three daily departures to the ski station on weekdays and 4 on weekends and holidays.

The station also has 11 restaurants, day care facilities, ski schools and a wide selection of specialized establishments that rent out complete, modern skiing or snowboarding equipment you may need. Depending on the season, you may need to purchase the forfeit tickets in advance. You can do it on the web or directly at Sierra Nevada Ski Resort. The forfait ticket purchase lockers are open from 8:00 to 16:30 pm Monday through Sunday.

What if you do not like skiing? Do not worry. You can also live an extraordinary experience at the Mirlo Blanco playground with fun activities for the whole family. Or you may have dinner at a lovely restaurant, just on top of the ski station: the highest restaurant in Europe!
