Sitges as a cosmopolitan city that welcomes visitors from around the world. Apart from its beauty, one of the greatest things about Sitges is that culture is a kind of utopia and everyone who comes here is able to relax, be themselves and have a great holiday.

Sitges is a beautiful town on the Mediterranean, just 32 km down south from Barcelona and can be easily reached by train from Barcelona (the trip takes only 30 minutes). Sitges is a charming cosmopolitan place, where locals mingle middle class and upper families, tourists and gays, in fact, Sitges is recognized as one of the gay capitals of Europe. If you want to discover Sitges but also the mountain of Montserrat, you must book online a ticket for the one-day trip to Montserrat and Sitges.

Similarly, Sitges is a shopper’s paradise, as there are a lot of wonderful shops and boutiques of the most recognized brands, as well as more modest stores but with different clothes and wonderful, great restaurants and nightlife.

While Sitges is recognized as a gay tourist destination (although it is frequented by heterosexuals as well and is lovely for everyone), recently there is a growing interest in lesbian activities in Sitges. In this regard, we anticipate that there are few bars and clubs in Sitges especially for lesbians, but there are good options for entertainment if you feel comfortable in a mixed environment.

There are many bars and clubs in Sitges, all with good atmospheres and the crowed is kindly to gays and lesbians, among them we suggest:

Marypili Bar (Calle Joan Tarrida 14): This is the only exclusively lesbian bar in Sitges and therefore, although not a spectacular site, has become an icon. It’s a fairly small bar, perfect for a drink and is served by girls.

  • L’Atlantida Disco (Platja de les Coves s / n): One of the best clubs in Sitges, belongs to the Matinée. In this room there are several dance floors, a garden and is located right on the beach, so it has its own private cove. In this club the gay community combines the gay community, with heterosexual and lesbian, all with a single purpose: to enjoy and dance until dawn. It is open between June and September.

Pasha: The legendary Pacha club was first founded in Barcelona and two Pashas in Sitges, one is located in Passeig de Sant Dídac and the other in Avinguda Port D’aiguadoç. The two are quite far from the touristical centre of Sitges, so the best option to reach them is by car or taxi.

If you want to go to the beaches of Sitges, you just have to walk along the beautiful promenade and go to any of the four beaches in town. The beach of San Sebastian is the quietest, the Playa de la Ribera is one of the busiest along the beach near to the Frigata beach, while Rodona Bassa Beach is the furthest from the centre of the city.

Between spring and autumn the weather is wonderful, but if you like organized activities, you might want to come on the dates on which the celebrations of the best lesbian events in Sitges and Barcelona 2011 are taking place:

  • Between June 8 and 12 the Gay Pride 2011 will be held in Sitges. In this framework, on Saturday June 10th they will celebrate “Girls night out”, in the building of El Prado, which is intended to be only for the lesbian audience.
  • Girlie Circuit, between 9 and 15 August 2011 in Barcelona. The program for this is not yet confirmed, but it is one of the largest lesbian circuits in Europe, with a great atmosphere and lots of fun. One of the main events is a rave party held in Sitges, full of debauchery and a good atmosphere.
