If you come to Barcelona, ??you probably already know that the city is the home to one of the best -if not the best- football team worldwide, FC Barcelona. Throughout Spain, including Barcelona of course, ??watching football matches in public is very common and people are always looking for nice places where to watch football with their friends. For those who do not live in the city, we have made a selecction of those we believe are the best bars in Barcelona where to watch football; also, we’ll present a small calendar of the most important football matches for the end of this season.

We prefer the bars in Barcelona with giant screens for watching football and other sports, some of the bars that transmit football matches that we really like are:

The George Payne: Without a doubt, this is our favorite bar for watching football; it’s an Irish pub always crowded and with a friendly atmosphere, located at Plaza Urquinaona 5 (Metro station “Urquinaona”, lines 3 and 4). This pub has 9 large screens, the kitchen is open all day and it offers reasonably priced beer (5 beers a bucket or pitcher of beer costs about 10 euros). If you’re going to George Payne to see an important matchme, keep in mind that although this is a fairly large pub, it gets packed early, so we suggest you go early enough (90 minutes before or so).

The Michael Collins: Another of our favorite Irish pubs, located in the Plaza Sagrada Familia 4 (metro station “Sagrada Familia”, lines 2 and 5). This is a bar with a special charm, even though it is not as comfortable as you could expect. If you want to watch a major party in this famous bar, try to arrive early, because it tends to be crowded. The last time we were there, the beer was between 2 to 2.5 euros in regular size, and pints cost about 4-5 euros.

Ryan’s: Another one of the bars that we recommend is the Ryan’s, which is located very close to Plaza Sant Jaume, in the Gothic Quarter, on street Paradis 4 (metro station “Jaume I”, yellow line). This is a particular local, as it has 3 floors in a kind of cellar, with cheap beer and good screens. The prices of mixed drinks are also quite good and it also offers sangria, and promotional cocktails of the week, for 3.5 euros. There are other Ryan’s in town, but this is our favorite.

Other nice bars to watch football matches in Barcelona:

  • Dunne’s, with multiple screens. Try Dunne’s Burger, it’s really delicious!. This bar is located in the heart of Ciutat Vella, Via Laietana 19 (metro station “Jaume I”, Line 4).
  • Red Lion: This is the first pub that was installed in the city of Barcelona, located in the district of Les Corts, at street Evarist Arnús 70 (metro station Plaça de Centre, Line 3). It offers a wide range of beers from several countries, including Germany, Belgium, Mexico, Ireland, USA, France and of course local beers. It has a relaxed atmosphere and doesn’t get that crowded, plus friendly service.

However, if you come to Barcelona and instead of watching football, you prefer to go out for eating tapas, we suggest some good places for eating tapas in Barcelona or some apartments in Barcelona where to spend your holiday.
