If you are fond of books, you are surely already looking for an accommodation in Madrid near the Retiro. Why? Because the Parque del Buen Retiro will be full of literature with the celebration of the 71th edition of the Book Fair of Madrid (FLM). The FLM will take place from Friday, the 25th of May, until Sunday, the 10th of June. This year the guest country is Italy: in that sense an ambitious program of collaboration between the Ambassy of Italy in Madrid and the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid has been developed. Claudio Magris, Roberto Calasoo and Erri de Luca are some of the Italian authors who will be present at the Book Fair 2012.

The Book fair Madrid 2012 will count with the presence of more than 400 exhibitors: libraries (general and specialized), distributors, publishing companies and official organizations. There will be book-signing sessions, but also workshops dedicated to children and teenagers (the youngest readers will receive a special attention: there will be 2 pavilions especially dedicated to them).

One of the main activities that will take place during the Book Fair of Madrid 2012 is the book launches like the one of: Quizás mañana la palabra amor (Jordi Sierra i Fabra) or Unea Forma de Resistencia (Luis García Montero). There will also be a tribute to Giulio Einaudi to celebrate the 100 years of his birth. Some other authors that will be present during the FLM 2012 are Isabel Allende, Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Ana Ma.Matute.

How to go to the Retiro of Madrid? It is the most emblematic park in the Spanish capital, situated in the heart of the city, so that it is very easy to go there. If you want to take the metro, there are 4 metro stations near to it: Príncipe de Vergara (L2 and L9), Retiro (L2), Ibiza (L9) and Atocha (L1). You can also go to the Retiro with the bus: line 19, 2, 20 and 28. We advice you to rent an apartment for days in Madrid in the very nice area of the Retiro.

Finally, take into account that the Book fair of Madrid 2012 will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, the FLM will be open between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.  For more information about the program and the activities of the event, you should consult this website.
