The next few months are perfect to rent an apartment in Madrid Centre and to enjoy a rich cultural agenda in the Spanish capital. During the summer, the art exhibition in Madrid will continue, more especially at the Prado Museum which is preparing one of the most important exhibitions of the year in collaboration with the Louvre Museum. It is a selection of pieces of art of the Italian Raffaello Sanzio (best known as Raphael) so as some of the important works of his pupils.

The exhibition titled “the Late Raphael” is one of the main exhibitions of the year at the Prado Museum: indeed the museum will home 70 pieces of art (58 of them lent by the Institución Española).

The Late Raphael in the Prado Museum (12 June-16 September)

The exhibition of the work of Raphael at the Prado Museum will start on the 12th of June and will run until the 16th of September (Rooms A and B, Jerónimos Building and Room 49, Villanueva Building). The work of Raphael will be displayed chronologically, with an emphasis on the 7 last years of his life (from the start of the pontificate of Leo X (1513) up to the artist’s death in 1520 when he was 37).  The showing will count with 40 paintings and 30 drawings but also with works of two of his main pupils: Giulio Romano and Giovani Francesco Penni who inherit of a large part of his workshop after his death. The pieces of art come from different museums and private collections: the Saint Cecilia Altarpiece has been lent by the National Art Gallery of Bologna), the portrait of Baldassare Castiglione comes from the Louvre…

The Prado Museum is located at the Paseo del Prado. The closest metro stations are Banco de España (line 2) and Atocha (Line 1). An entrance costs 12€ and includes both the visit of the permanent and temporal exhibitions. The museum is opened from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition of the “Late Raphael” exhibition, you will be able to visit two other temporal exhibitions in the museum this summer (Murillo and Justino de Neve: the  Art of Friendship and Eduardo Arroyo. The Mystic Lamb) so that we advice you to look for a cheap accommodation in Madrid during the next month.
