Montjuïc is the mountain that presides the city. Its name is due to Jupiter, to who a temple was consecrated in Roman time. In this near mountain to the sea where a castle was located in the XVII century, they became important works in the beginnings of the XX century, such as the facilities of the Universal Exhibition of 1929 or the singular tower designed by Calatrava due to the Olympic games of 1992.
In its nice gardens there are situated lots of museums, the “Pueblo Español” with its 116 houses, palaces and churches built for the Universal exposition of 1929 and representing the most characteristic museums of Spain.
In the lowest part of the mountain it is situated the entrance to “Fira de Barcelona.
At the bottom there is a magnificent group of sources and cascades, a very attractive attraction of Barcelona. They were created for the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in the year 1929 by the Catalan engineer's Carles Buigas. In the summer nights one can enjoy an authentic show of lights, colors and music.
