A new show with colourful light, music and water, inspired by the value of water and the need to preserve it, has started now at the Magic Fountain in Barcelona.The show is a choreographic version of a musical composition called Moldava, by the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana, which was inspired by the life a river creates as it goes on its way.The director of the Orquestra Simfonica Julia Carbonell from Lleida, Alfons Reverte, helped to create the show, which you can see until the end of September on Thursday to Sunday between 9.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. every half an hour at the fountain.

Spain, one of the most visited countries in the world - referring to the latest statistics the second most visited country -  is located in south west Europe.

The Kingdom of Spain occupies the biggest part of the Iberian Peninsula and is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea.

August 24, 2006: Restaurants and bars in Spain with an area of more than 100 m2, will need to finish their reforms to separate a smoking area with own ventilation from the non-smoker one by the end of August, if they do not want to get fined. 
 
With only one week to go, many restaurant and bar owners say they won´t finish the works by the end of this month and that more time is needed to comply with the new Spanish anti-smoking law.
 
But the Spanish Government (Ministry of Health) declares that there has been enough time given to the establishments and therefore the deadline will not be changed. 
 
In case of not finishing the reforms to create separate areas on time, bars and restaurants all over Spain will have to declare the whole establishment as a smoke free zone.

August 17, 2006: After 15 days of raging fires throughout the Autonomous Community of Galicia in northwest Spain, about all fires are finally under control.
 
Galician authorities have mentioned today that more than 70.000 hectares of land have been destroyed in the past days as well as 1.000 homes. This is more land than destroyed by fire in Galicia in the whole year of 2005.
 
38,000 hectares have been destroyed in the Pontevedra province and 28,000 hectares in the province of  A Coruña.
 
30 persons have been arrested for allegedly starting the blazes of which 12 remain in prison.
 
The sealife in Galicia may get damaged in case the fire ashes are carried out into the sea.

The new budget airline ClickAir will be based in Barcelona, Spain, the second largest airport in Spain after Madrid, and start operating in October 2006. The airline will compete with another fairly new Spanish airline called Vueling, as well as with EasyJet and Ryanair, other international low cost airlines that fly in to Barcelona. The Spanish airlines Air Europa, Iberia and Spanair at times offer cheap flights within Spain, except for August, Easter and Christmas.
